Being a producer sometimes feels like standing in a rainstorm with a tiny umbrella, no matter what you do, you’re going to get drenched. Bunny Vasu recently faced that when trolls pounced on his comments defending the Mithra Mandali trailer. He got emotional, saying some negative posts were deliberately planted, and famously added, “You can’t even pluck my hair.” Even though the movie flopped later, and his bold words became meme material, Vasu didn’t back down and stood up for his team.

At The Girlfriend trailer launch, the mood was different, lighter, funnier, and full of warmth. Vasu cracked jokes about past controversies, saying he came prepared in a “tight shirt” to avoid viral trouble. He praised Rashmika Mandanna, calling her the “Indian Crushmika,” and shared how watching just the last half-hour of the film hit him hard. His mix of humor and heartfelt words made it clear how much he believed in this project.

The heart of his speech was about the movie itself. Vasu highlighted that the story mirrors real-life experiences for many young women, especially introverts, saying 50–60% of girls in the audience could relate. Then, in his usual witty style, he warned men in the crowd about their girlfriends’ reactions, whether it’s a hug, silent follow-up, or a slap waiting at home. It was funny, yes, but it also showed the film’s emotional pull and how it might spark real conversations.

He wrapped up by appreciating director Rahul for handling sensitive topics smartly while keeping it commercial. Vasu also playfully teased veteran producer Allu Aravind for trusting the project. Confidently, he predicted awards for the cast, crew, and especially Vidya and Dheeraj for bringing the story to life. From trolls to trailer-stage laughs, Bunny Vasu showed that humor, honesty, and belief in your team can turn even past controversies into something memorable.
