The big screen constantly has new surprises for us with incredible releases such as Dune 2, however, sometimes the classics are exactly what we need to feed our nostalgia. But with so many genres to pick from, it can be tough to filter through to get to the creme de la creme. This is why today we’ll focus on legendary casino movies you should enjoy at home right now.

Dirty Deeds

Something you might not know about Australia is that it is the biggest gambling country in the world. In fact, as per AIFS around 73% of the adult population has gambled in the past 12 months, which is a staggering number. This statistic includes not only brick-and-mortar locales but also online ones.

In fact, just like with most of the world, Australia's online casino industry is on the rise. And with popular online casino in Australia, a wide range of games have become accessible to everyday players - from blackjack to roulette and more. Moreover, these innovative casino platforms typically offer sizeable promotions, such as a $3000 welcome bonus, for new players to start gambling from the comfort of their homes.

This is especially convenient when considering the sheer size of the country, where accessing a brick-and-mortar casino might simply not be feasible. However, an online experience doesn’t mean you have to subject yourself to an anti-social experience, unless that is what you’re looking for. You can always opt to enjoy the live casino available on the platform which is equipped with a live human host.

With all of this information, it should come as no surprise that one of the best, albeit underrated, casino movies originates from the land down under - Dirty Deeds. Released in 2002, the plot follows the main character Barry Ryan, an Australian mobster who has attracted the attention of the American mafia with the profits he made via slots.

You don’t have to guess hard to figure out that what they want, is to get in on the action. And this is how Ryan is thrown into quite the riveting battle with Americans that must be seen.

While this movie is Australian, it still features big names you’ll recognize such as John Stephen Goodman. Plus, it gives you a nice reprieve from the standard casino scene typically set in places like Vegas.

Ocean's Eleven

Now that we’ve covered the underdog of the legendary casino movies, let’s move on to something you’ll be far more familiar with. The Ocean’s series is renowned worldwide for iconic heists and epic scenes featuring big names. While all of them have their claims to be called the best one, in our personal opinion, nothing beats Ocean’s Eleven.

Here we follow Danny Ocean, a professional thief, reuniting with his friends after a stint in prison to take on a massive heist in Vegas. The main jobs have to be done at the Bellagio, MGM Grand, and the Mirage - so picturesque scenes are to be expected. Of course, everything has to be meticulously planned, one tiny mistake would ruin everything.

The crew in question has varying jobs that need to be fulfilled, starting with infiltrating the Bellagio to learn the ins and outs of not only the building but also the personnel. There is quite a twist in the story with Danny having an ulterior motive when it comes to the heist but we’re choosing not to spoil it in case you haven’t had the chance to enjoy this masterpiece of a movie.

There are so many components that make this work so well, such as the combination of a charismatic crew and incredibly witty dialogue. And with a plan that is only fully revealed at the end, we dare viewers to not be wowed til the very end.

Casino Royale

Another ultimate classic is gracing our list, featuring one of the best James Bond portrayals thanks to the actor Daniel Craig. Released in 2006 with critical acclaim, the story follows Bond as he goes on his first proper mission after earning his license to kill. His main goal is to bankrupt our main antagonist a terrorist financier, Le Chiffre.

And this is where the epic casino scene appears amid all the action. To fulfill his goal, Agent 007 has to enter a Texas Hold’Em tournament in Montenegro and ensure he wins. As MI6’s best poker player, it was a no-brainer to send him on this mission, however, it didn’t go as smoothly as planned.

Thanks to the impeccable acting of actors like Daniel Craig and Mads Mikkelsen along with actress Eva Green, even the most unbelievable scenes are made realistic. Thus, if you’re a fan of great fight sequences, suave spies, and twists at every turn, or perhaps just a fan of the book series, this movie is definitely the one for you.

Conclusion

Movies will always strive to portray the most titillating parts of life, and this includes casinos as the excitement they provide to even the most casual of players is truly something else. If you’re looking for something boring and low-key, you certainly won’t find it with the above movies. This list is for the thrill seekers out there who want to experience something that will get their heart pounding.
