These days, small films are able to ink an OTT deal only if they do well at the box office. Even for bigger stars, locking an OTT platform is getting tougher in case if their previous movies don’t live up to the mark. At this junction, the movie releasing tomorrow (Dec 25th) is making the headlines.

Former hero Srikanth Meka’s elder son, Roshan, is coming up with his third flick, “Champion”, through which he wants to prove his mettle at the Box Office. While many other movies are struggling to lock their OTT partner, which otehrwise would not enable them to get them handson profit before the release itself, Champion is acquired by Netflix for an exorbitant price.

Tipped to be a vintage action entertainer that deals with the violent Bairanapally massacre, where more than 200 Hindus were brutally killed by Nizam’s militia Razakkars, back in the year 1948, Champion’s trailer raised many eyebrows. Looking at the quality of the content being offered, it looks like Netflix jumped onto the bandwagon to seal the deal immediately.

For a hero like Roshan Meka, who hasn’t opened his account yet at the Box Office and his previous film PellisandaD being a dud, surely this is an achievement of sorts. Of course, the production house Vyjayanthi Films is known for its production values, and that might have played a crucial role in locking this OTT deal.
