At the press meet, Megastar Chiranjeevi, director SS Rajamouli, and a bunch of other celebs showed up to speak frankly about the mess piracy is causing.
The scale of this thing is insane. Chiranjeevi talked about a 22-year-old kid from Bihar who leaked hundreds of films online. Big hits like Game Changer, OG, and Kingdom lost huge chunks of money. He pointed out how piracy is especially painful now, with Telugu cinema going global thanks to SS Rajamouli’s projects, who is coming up with a big international project next. Finally, he gave a shout-out to the cops and government for actually stepping in and closing it.
Work-wise, Chiranjeevi is coming up with three big releases lined up for Sankranti, including Mana Shankara Vara Prasad and the fantasy flick Vishwambhara, which is deep in post-production with VFX. He’s also signed another project with director Bobby. Clearly, keeping these films safe from piracy is a top priority.
And his son Ram Charan isn’t far behind. He’s coming this March with Peddi, a sports drama starring Janhvi Kapoor. With both father and son juggling big projects, Chiranjeevi stressed how important it is to fight piracy for every film in the industry so fans everywhere can enjoy these films properly.
