Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video became a huge sensation and created strong reactions from the film industry, fans, and cyber experts. People demanded strict action because such fake content can damage a person’s image within minutes. Now the problem has reached another level, as even top Telugu heroes are becoming victims.
Megastar Chiranjeevi is the latest celebrity to be affected by deepfake misuse. Edited photos and videos of him have been spread online without his knowledge. Some of these fake visuals attempted to mislead the public and also harm his reputation. Chiranjeevi has taken this issue seriously and approached the court seeking strict legal action.
According to reports, Chiranjeevi recently lodged a complaint with Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C. V. Anand (Sajjanar). He requested authorities to identify those who created and shared the morphed images. He clearly stated that no one has the right to use his name or likeness for commercial or harmful purposes without his permission.
The City Civil Court supported his concern. The court ordered that Chiranjeevi’s photos, videos, or name must not be used illegally for business or damaging activities. Following the court’s instructions, Cyber Crime Police registered a case and have already started their investigation to trace the culprits.
The rise of deepfake technology has created a big challenge for celebrities. Anyone’s face can be edited into a fake video within a few seconds using artificial intelligence. This can lead to harassment, misinformation, defamation, and loss of trust among the public. The film fraternity believes that strong laws and strict punishments are required to control such acts.
