If Peddi Gets Blocked, Will Chiranjeevi Step In?
With Peddi likely to be the first casualty of this epic clash between producers and exhibitors, many are wondering what would happen if the film’s release in single screens is blocked on June 4th.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 13 May 2026 2:04 PM ISTCurrently, the existential fight between Tollywood’s top exhibitors and producers is at the peak, with the exhibitors wanting nothing but a percentage system in the future releases in single screens, while producers are hell-bent that they won’t give any percentage except following the rental system that’s in place now. In the wake of some active producers, including Mythri Ravi, Sithara Vamsi, Bunny Vas, and SKN, to take up a press meet today in the evening, it’s very clear that all big-ticket films are going to be wickets now.
With Peddi likely to be the first casualty of this epic clash between producers and exhibitors, many are wondering what would happen if the film’s release in single screens is blocked on June 4th. Hoping that some biggies will step in and resolve, it’s being heard in film circles that exhibitors have decided not to implement the ticket hikes and also not allow future biggies to release on the rental window. Many are expecting that with Peddi being Ram Charan’s movie, definitely Megastar Chiranjeevi should now play the role of industry-biggie to tackle the issue.
Also, at a time when all the issues in Tollywood are being pointed towards the big remunerations that heroes are walking away with, and producers are unable to see profits due to this happening, Chiranjeevi’s words will be golden, and his silence will be catastrophic on the whole issue. Even before exhibitors and producers are hitting the media road to make their voices heard, actually biggies like Chiranjeevi should have interfered to solve the crisis. Otherwise, the crisis seems to be more out of control and likely to eat away at many films if unattended now.
