Cocktail Vs Cocktail 2: That’s The Difference

Last week, one big romantic film that released with huge expectations is none other than Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna’s Cocktail 2. The film has already touched ₹100 crores nett from the Indian box office, but the fans of the original Cocktail, featuring Saif, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, are not happy with the movie and its collections. Wonder why?

Cocktail 2 was carved out by the same Homi Adjania who made Cocktail earlier. While Cocktail 2 has a good opening of ₹12+ crores compared to recent romantic films like Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, De De Pyaar De 2, Tu Meri Main Tera, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the original film has better openings than this. Cocktail, back in 2012, had an opening of ₹10.50 crore nett, which would be much higher if adjusted to inflation. That film made ₹74.50 crore nett in its full run at the box office, which would be equal to ₹160 crores now.

However, Cocktail 2 has already collected more than ₹100 crores nett from the box office, but it has to collect 60 crores more to become a same result as the original. That sounds very impossible at the moment as various new releases are coming up in Bollywood this Friday and next Friday as well, including Alia Bhatt’s Alpha movie. At the same time, it’s not just these revenue comparisons alone.

For Cocktail, the movie won rave reviews at that time for the performances and the storyline as well. However, here in Cocktail 2, other than Kriti Sanon’s performance and bikini treat, the rest of the performances and storyline haven’t got any appreciation.
