Complaint Lodged Against Kamal Haasan for Alleged Contract Breach

While Kamal Haasan is busy filming and gearing up for major releases like 'Thug Life,' 'Kalki 2898 AD,' and 'Indian 2,' he now faces a new challenge – a complaint filed against him by the Producer's Council.

On May 2nd, Thirrupathi Brothers, the production house behind director Lingusamy's films, filed a formal complaint against Kamal Haasan regarding the long-standing 'Uttama Villain' controversy. The production house reportedly suffered significant losses after producing the film in 2015.

The complaint details a series of events before and after the film's release. In 2013, Thirrupathi Brothers entered an agreement with Kamal Haasan for a film budgeted at 50 crores, with Kamal retaining overseas and North Indian rights for 15 crores. However, the complaint alleges that Kamal Haasan reneged on the initial script and disagreed to the proposed remake of 'Drishyam' (which he eventually did under a different banner). These changes, along with issues during 'Uttama Villain's release, resulted in heavy losses for Thirrupathi Brothers.

The complaint further states that to compensate for the losses, Kamal Haasan verbally agreed to star in a new film at a budget of 30 crores based on a script chosen by Thirrupathi Brothers. However, despite a written agreement, the film hasn't materialized even after nine years.

Thirrupathi Brothers have requested the Producer's Council to intervene and ensure that Kamal Haasan fulfils his commitment to the compensation film. This development has caused a stir in the Tamil film industry, and all eyes are on the Council's response.
