Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his unique storytelling and gritty characters, once had a surprising ideato cast superstar Rajinikanth as a villain. This unusual thought came during the early development of his upcoming film Coolie. Lokesh has a reputation for showing big stars in never-seen-before roles.

For instance, Vijay Sethupathi played the villain in Master, and Sanjay Dutt was the antagonist in Leo. Similarly, he initially planned to present Rajinikanth in a powerful negative role.

During the initial narration stages of Coolie, Lokesh reportedly shared this idea with Rajinikanth himself. He pitched a grey-shaded character rather than the typical hero role that Rajini is famous for. However, it�s unclear how Rajinikanth responded to the idea or whether this concept was seriously considered later.

Eventually, Lokesh moved away from this plan, and Coolie took a different direction, with Rajinikanth playing a more conventional lead role.
