By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Feb 2025 3:15 PMMaverick Director Shankar is currently witnessing a downward spiral in his career as everything he touches is turning into dust as none of his recent films have worked at the box office. If that wasn’t enough, the Director is now facing legal action with regard to his personal life.
The enforcement directorate(ED) has principally attached properties belonging to the director in connection with a copyright case that was filed against him.
“ED, Chennai has provisionally attached 3 immovable properties registered in the name of S. Shankar, with a total value of Rs.10.11 Crore (approx.) on 17/02/2025 under the provisions of PMLA, 2002” The statement from ED read. A prevention of money landing case has also been filed against him.
This is in connection with the copyright case that was filed against Shankar by a writer named Aarur Tamilandan in 2011. In this case, this writer had mentioned that the Robo film that was conceived and directed by Shankar is heavily inspired from his book Jiguba.
After subsequent preliminary investigation in the case that went on for over a decade, finally, some legal action is being taken in this regard. It is primarily established that Shankar had received ₹11.5 crore remuneration for his work for this film.
Now the ED has attached properties valued at Rs 10.11 crore regrading this case. It has to be seen how the victim will be corresponded and compensated in this case, considering the high-profile nature of the same.
