The film is out. It’s running in theatres. But the work hasn’t stopped. Looks like talented actor Adivi Sesh is treating his latest release “Dacoit” differently. Usually, once a film is about to be released, actors focus heavily on promotions, and after the release, they just move on. The OTT version, edits, extended cuts, all of that is handled by the director and technical team. But here, things are going in a different way.

As per reports, Adivi Sesh is not just doing post-release promotions. He’s also personally overseeing the OTT version of Dacoit. From cuts to pacing the final output, he’s reportedly monitoring everything closely, such that the film gets more appreciation after hitting the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video. While Dacoit has taken a decent start at the box office, it’s only urban centres that have shown better traction, while it’s very average in the B&C centres. The opening weekend numbers are respectable for its scale, but this isn’t a mass commercial film designed for long theatrical dominance. That’s why Sesh is said to be working hard to make sure that the OTT version clicks with all forms of audience.

Understanding where a film will truly perform is something directors in India are rarely focused on. However, Sesh seems to be playing a long game here. He knows the theatrical run will do its part. But the wider reach, repeat value, and long-term recall will come from the OTT arena only. However, many are wondering what director Shaniel Deo is doing when Sesh is involved like this. Also, some say that Sesh’s closeness with the film’s producer is letting him do all of this.
