Boycott Kubera? What Really Happened?

These days, it has become a common tradition for fans to trend boycott narrative on social media. Whenever they find something offensive or repulsive about the film, they resort to this measure and call the audience to boycott the film.

Incidentally, something of this resort happened with Kubera, which features Akkineni Nagarjuna and Dhanush in the lead roles. Shockingly, it was Dhanush’s fans themselves who called for the boycott of this film.

However, this appears to have stemmed from a minor misunderstanding. On May 23, 2025, the film’s promotional team released a teaser poster that featured only Nagarjuna. This led to disappointment among Dhanush’s fans, who felt the actor was being sidelined and began expressing their dissatisfaction on social media.

They immediately started to trend the hashtag #BoycottKubera as a token of protest.

However, the intention behind the initial poster was to celebrate Nagarjuna’s 39-year milestone in the Indian film industry, not to exclude Dhanush. Soon after the backlash, the team released a new poster featuring Dhanush, which helped clear the confusion and calm the fan outrage. The swift response from the filmmakers reassured fans and eased tensions.

Things are back to normal now, and there is no controversy happening with this film for now.
