Didn’t Know Acting, That’s Why Directing: Venky Atluri

The other day at the pre-release event of “Kara” movie’s Telugu version in Hyderabad, hero Dhanush made some strong statements. He said that whenever he speaks Telugu, which is bad as he’s not a native, people are trolling him. However, he stated that you can pronounce the movie’s name as ‘Kaara’ ‘Keera’ ‘Kaira’ whatever that is, but asked the audience to come to theatres and watch it. This is not the conversation, however, that caught the eye of everyone.

Apparently, the hero has invited his “Sir” director Venky Atluri as the Chief Guest, and during that time, Venky tried to be humble and do a lot of flattery, lifting Dhanush to the sky. Apparently, Venky said, “Dhanush sir, how come you’re so talented; you could write some lyrics or scene in just a day, and direct the film, and act like hell, and do everything. Hope at least I had 10% of your talents”. Reacting to this, Dhanush gave a punch.

“Don’t act too humble, Venky sir. You have already delivered back-to-back blockbusters like Sir and Lucky Bhaskar. You’re a blockbuster maker who is trying to act humble. Acting is my job, let me do it, and directing is your job, so you do that well,” Dhanush replied.

To this, Venky added, “Sir, I didn’t know acting, sir, that’s why I’m directing films”.

Though everyone is stunned by this comment, in fact, Venky Atluri first debuted as an actor and starred in a couple of films, but later shifted to writing and direction, as he didn’t get a chance as a lead or any other character roles later.

Later in another instance, when Dhanush stated that all of his good films are due to luck and god’s blessing, Venky satired, “Look who is acting humble now”, to which Dhanush replied, “Sir, I’m always humble, but you’re the one acting like you are humble”.

Well, the conversation ended there, but the internet kept talking about Venky Atluri. Later Dhanush wished all the best for the director’s next film, Surya’s Viswanathan and Sons.
