By: Tupaki Desk | 29 March 2026 10:02 AM ISTThe new chapter is being written in Indian cinema by Dhurandhar 2. On one hand, this film is going on a super strong run in the domestic Indian market, and at the same time, it is pretty strong, even in the overseas belt.
According to the latest reports, this Ranveer Singh film has established a new record in the North American market by emerging as the highest collecting film of all time from Indian cinema.
Earlier, this record was held by the epic Baahubali 2, which had collected in the vicinity of $20.78 million in American market. But this record is now broken by Dhurandhar 2, which has reportedly collected in the vicinity of $20.80 million till now. Considering the fact that this film is still running strong, it could establish a bigger record in full run.
But the crucial point that must be noted here is that Baahubali 2 is a phenomenon beyond all measure. The fact that it took nearly a decade for Indian cinema to break this record established by the Rajamouli and Prabhas film back in 2017 shows the kind of phenomena that he had created back in the day.
Today we might have multiple films that might be collecting big money at the North American market, but it is Baahubali 2 which truly showed the potential for Indian cinema. Also, this is the film that brought the wider spectrum of Indian audience across languages together at a very crucial time.
Even to this day, Baahubali 2 remains to be the film that opened may new gates including the North America segment to Indian cinema. Today with the emulsion of pan Indian cinema, many films might set sight on these mighty records but what Baahubali 2 did was unprecedented and unheard of back when it happened.
The record of this Rajamouli and Prabhas film might have fallen today, but it will certainly never be forgotten as it will go down as one of the most culturally significant films ever to be made in history.
