Dhurandhar 2: Massive Damage Being Done!

As expected, the OTT release of “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, the Part 2 of the superhit Dhurandhar movie has happened, has happened on Netflix. But that’s only for the global audience, and the film will not be available for the audience in India. As Jio Cinemas kept the rights for themselves, for the Indian audience they have to wait for the Jio Hotstar version to come out. And that’s where things went wrong big time.

Dhurandhar 2 is being screened on Netflix already, and it has reached almost all the piracy websites too. With JioHotstar not even announcing the streaming date in India, already the 4K quality prints grabbed from Netflix are doing rounds everywhere. That’s massive damage. Because if the film comes on OTT, many will surely watch, and with Hotstar’s basic plan, there will be easily 16-18 ads played in a 4-hour-long movie. Rather than focusing on that, the OTT partner felt that the film would have another 2-3 weeks of good run at the Box Office until some big Hindi and Telugu movies hit the marquee. With this, they have paused the OTT release in India, but piracy has already spread its claws to cash on this gap.

Though the control will be done through various anti-piracy moves by the makers, surely that will not be of great help as already the film is being downloaded en masse if some reports on social media are to be believed. Reportedly, this will create unwanted loss towards the end for the OTT platform. Some say that the makers have already identified the issue and they are going to roll out the Jio Hotstar version in India very soon.
