The film has clocked more than ₹1100 crores already, but then, it’s heartening to hear that it lost almost ₹90 crores in business in one territory.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 31 Dec 2025 6:00 PM ISTBollywood’s action spectacle Dhurandhar has emerged as one of the biggest money-spinners of the year, taking Indian cinema to another level at the global box office.
The film has clocked more than ₹1100 crores already, but then, it’s heartening to hear that it lost almost ₹90 crores in business in one territory.
One of the biggest earners for Bollywood films is the Gulf market, where people run after Hindi movies, followed by Malayalam movies. However, with Dhurandar dealing with an anti-Pakistan narrative, and particularly exposing the hypocrisy of India’s enemy, it was banned across Gulf countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.
According to overseas distributor Pranab Kapadia, the film suffered an estimated ₹90 crores loss due to its non-release in the gulf region. Speaking about the setback, Kapadia stated that the action films generally perform exceptionally well in Gulf countries, and Dhurandhar was expected to do the same.
Despite the ₹90 crore blow from the Middle East, Dhurandhar continues to rain collections elsewhere, as many audience got connected to the geo-political emotion showcased in the movie.
