Dhurandhar Effect: Is Bollywood’s Comeback Just Myth?
In recent times, many films have relied more on promotions and social media buzz than actual content or scale.

It is slowly breaking a strong narrative around Bollywood’s so-called comeback. The second part is not just a hit, it’s a clear blockbuster driven by scale and execution. However, many are thinking that this is Bollywood’s comeback, and that might not be just true.
If we look at the recent past, films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar and Satyaprem Ki Katha were projected as signs of revival as they did well at the box office. Then the likes of Munjhya, Gadar 2 also did well, entering the hundreds of crores club. But if you look closely, many of them were decent performers at best, not outright box office dominators. A few years ago, Pathaan and Jawan actually showed what a real comeback looks like, with a big scale and big opening, amplified by strong theatrical pull.
In recent times, many films have relied more on promotions and social media buzz than actual content or scale. At the same time, producers started playing it safe by avoiding clashes, keeping budgets unclear and going with small concepts. Well, Dhurandhar might have hit it out of the park, but that doesn’t mean every Bollywood film from now on will do the same. The comeback will be a myth unless Bollywood changes the way they present the content. Dhurandhar’s success will be standalone, however.
