How did the story of Gandhi Tatha Chettu originate?
A friend suggested writing a love story between a tree and a human. I loved the idea. I am passionate about greenery and trees. This idea deeply connected with me. I wrote the story to teach the importance of plants to future generations. The story shows how a young girl protects her village and a tree using non-violence. It is a message-driven film. The movie also has commercial elements that appeal to the audience.
Where was the film shot?
I wanted a perfect setting for the story. I visited Nizamabad. I found the perfect tree on a friend’s farm. We shot the movie in Rangampeta which is a village surrounded by sugarcane fields. The story starts in 1947. It begins when Gandhiji passed away, and the grandfather plants a tree.
