Though she started with the Telugu film Loafer, directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film didn’t do well. Still, her appearance and presence stood out, and that opened the door to Bollywood. Things moved fast after that, but it wasn’t always smooth.
In Kanguva, a Tamil film with Suriya, she played a bounty hunter named Angela. The film blended a present-day story with a historical past, but it failed to connect with the audience. Despite the scale and ambition, the film flopped, adding another rough patch to her film journey.
Speaking in an interview, Disha shared how she came to Mumbai with only 500 rupees. She went to audition after audition, mostly for ads. At one point, she even signed her first film, only to be dropped before filming began. Another actress was brought in. She said it didn’t upset her much because she saw it as part of the process.
Disha said rejection helped her toughen up. She didn’t try to overanalyze the loss. She just kept showing up and trying again. Her story is like many others who come to the industry with nothing but persistence. The struggle wasn’t glamorous, but it shaped her.
