The Drishyam franchise is one of the most celebrated in Indian cinema, especially in the Malayalam industry. Directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring superstar Mohanlal, both Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021) received huge applause from audiences and critics. The first film broke several box-office records, while the sequel, released directly on OTT during the COVID-19 pandemic, became a massive success. Naturally fans have very high expectations for Drishyam 3.

However director Jeethu Joseph is taking a different approach. Instead of increasing the hype, he is trying to lower expectations. In a recent interaction, he requested fans not to compare the upcoming film with the first two parts. He explained that Drishyam 3 will not follow the same pattern of mind-blowing twists and clever tricks that made the earlier films iconic.

In the first two parts, Mohanlal’s character Georgekutty amazed viewers with his extraordinary intelligence and planning, outsmarting the police at every turn. Those thrilling moments became the main highlight of the franchise. But Jeethu Joseph has now clarified that the third installment will focus more on emotions rather than suspense-filled mind games.

The director also warned that if audiences go in expecting another set of high-level twists, they might end up disappointed. By saying this, he seems to be preparing the audience for a different cinematic experience this time.
