In a case that has shaken the Telugu states, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is intensifying its investigation into the promotion of online betting apps. Rana Daggubati, the popular actor, has now appeared for questioning regarding his involvement in promoting these controversial apps.

The ED is probing financial transactions linked to commissions, payments and money laundering related to these betting apps. Rana Daggubati is being questioned about the financial gains he earned through promoting these apps and their impact on illegal activities. Authorities are scrutinizing account transactions, digital footprints, and IT reports related to the case.

This case has already led to the questioning of other celebrities, including Vijay Deverakonda and Prakash Raj. Moreover, actress Manchu Lakshmi has also received a notice for questioning on August 13, 2025.

The ED’s investigation is not limited to Telugu cinema alone. It is believed that the probe might expand to other film industries across India. The authorities are particularly focused on understanding why prominent actors and influencers have endorsed these betting platforms, especially when the central government has already imposed a ban on such apps.

Vijay Deverakonda, who had previously clarified his association with the legal gaming app A23, stated that it was not a betting app but a registered, legal gaming platform. He further assured the ED that all the necessary documents, including contracts, bank details and transaction records were provided.
