A festival of lights may come once a year, but this week the silver screen itself has turned into a festival ground.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 24 Sept 2025 12:52 PM ISTA festival of lights may come once a year, but this week the silver screen itself has turned into a festival ground. Eight South Indian films are arriving together, bringing action, romance, thrill, and nostalgia to the audience. From big stars like Powerstar Pawan Kalyan in OG to the return of Vijay and Jyotika’s Kushi on the big screen, theaters are buzzing with choices. For moviegoers, it is not just about buying a ticket, it is about picking which world they want to step into.
At the front of the line stands OG, a gangster action drama where Pawan Kalyan’s comeback has already created tremors. Opposite him is Emraan Hashmi, adding fresh weight to the Telugu screens. For those who like romance with a touch of suspense, Tamil film Andha 7 Naatkal promises a story where love collides with fate. Malayalam cinema too makes its presence felt with Karam, a thriller about a soldier dragged into an international conspiracy. Each title carries its own flavor, and together they cover nearly every mood.
Younger audiences looking for fun can catch Kiss Me Idiot, a Tamil-dubbed romantic comedy with Sreeleela’s charm at the center. On the darker side, Kutram Thavir explores crime and revenge, while Right traps a father in a desperate search inside a mystery-filled police station. Adding variety, Balti takes viewers into the heated world of kabaddi rivalries at the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border, showing how a sport can become a matter of pride and war.
And then there is Kushi. Twenty-five years after its first run, Vijay and Jyotika’s college romance comes back to theaters. For older fans, it is a trip down memory lane; for younger viewers, it is a chance to see a film that defined a generation. With all eight titles releasing in the same window, theaters are set to stay packed. This week, the screen is not just showing films, it has turned into a fairground of stories, where every ticket leads to a different world.
