Strong Interviews, Weak Content In Film

Of late, it has become a common culture amongst film directors to issue statements while promoting their films, but actually liking any real content when their film actually comes out. Similar thing has happened with veteran director, Gautham Vasudevan Menon.

Incidentally, Gautham Vasu Menon returned to Malayalam Cinema as he directed recent release Dominic and The Ladies Purse. This happened to be his maiden, Malayalam directorial film, and he took the occasion to aggressively promote the film through multiple interviews.

While it is a fact that the interviews that were given by Gautham and the subsequent type that was generated for the film was substantial enough. However, the film lad wear it matters the most as it came with below par content, which was outrightly rejected by the Malayalam audience.

The film could generate decent hype through the interview interviews that were given by Gautham, and this resulted in pretty good advance bookings. The face value of Mammootty came along way in anticipation for the film ahead of the release.

However, after the release, the audience felt that there are far better thrillers that are made in Malayalam itself, and there was no need for Gautham to come out of his comfort zone and make such a poor product.

As a result, all the hype that was generated through the promotional campaigns and also the prospect of Gautham Vasudev Menon, directing Malayalam film has all gone waste. The film is not comparing nearly enough to other native Malayalam thrillers that come with high writing values and visual presentation. This film is setting for a big flop now.
