Genelia is one heroine who arrived as a teenager with 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' and 'Boys', gained super popularity in South within a short time, became a star, working in a couple of languages, got married to her first film hero Ritesh Deshmukh, and became a mother. She did all that by the end of her twenties. At the age of thirty-five, she made her comeback with 'Ved' last year.

She arrived with another project titled 'Trial Period'. It is a light-hearted entertainer which marks Genelia's debut in the OTT arena. As a part of the promotions, Genelia talked about her journey over the years, this project, OTT content recently and her time in South India. She said, "Someone like me, who's come back after 10 years, I find a lot of interesting work like Trial Period is my first OTT film. Of course I'm a little slow because I have younger kids and I choose what I need to do and when I need to do but the kind of offers that come in and the role are coming are exciting, like exciting to see such a range from all over."

She added, "In the South, they have a very loyal fan base. They come from a legacy of films. I, on the other hand, was an outsider in two films. But, when I did South films then they used to say that Bollywood dropouts go to the South, at that point in time." She covered it up by saying that she enjoyed working in the South and claims that she is not in touch with big stars right now but can pick up where she left off when they meet.

Talking about the OTT content, she said, "Riteish and I are pretty confident that this is what people have missed- like (people) sitting together and enjoying. I see a lot of films and shows (on OTT), and I can't involve my kids with me very often. So India is about that. It is about celebrating movies together. Films have been part of our family celebrations. We either watch a movie together on Sunday or go out to the cinema. This has been a tradition in many households for years. I hope to see films that we grew up watching." 'Trial Period' is streaming on Jio Cinema from 21st July.
