There might be many reasons for a film to become a hit or a flop. Knowing what the audience want and delivering it with the right mix of all emotions can give you success to an extent. But one song or a scene or a fight is changing the fate of a movie these days. No matter how the entire film is, the audience are making the film a big hit if there is one episode in the movie that gives them goosebumps. The fans and movie lovers hype it up heavily on social media right from the morning shows and get the blockbuster talk.
Let us take Sankranti's blockbuster 'Hanu-Man' for example. The entire movie was good but the last scene where Hanuman opens his eyes and stand in front of the hero impressed the audience a lot. The taking gave goosebumps to the audience and the movie's success increased multifold due to this. We get a high while watching it and the audience step out of the theatres with the same feeling.
Even in 'Kalki 2898 AD' too, there were many complaints regarding the first half. Despite the grandeur, the viewers criticized the lack of emotional connection and the constant change in the tonality. They also felt that the song was unnecessary as well. People said that there were no high moments in the film till the interval point. Despite the highly impressive second half, Prabhas fans felt that it was Amitabh Bachchan who was dominating everyone. But the twist given to Prabhas' character in the last 20-30 minutes was phenomenal.
People are talking about the climax and it took the film to a whole new level. Prabhas who was shown as a bounty hunter till then was revealed as Karna from Mahabharata. It created a euphoria in theatres and Prabhas' royalty on the screen gave goosebumps to the audience. It made the audience eagerly wait for 'Kalki Part 2'.
Rajamouli is an expert in creating these magical moments. Right from his first movie, he makes sure that there are ample mass moments or elevations that makes the audience go crazy in theatres. Whether it is 'Chatrapathi', 'Simhadri', 'Sye', 'Vikramarkudu', 'Yamadonga', 'Magadheera', 'Eega', 'Baahubali 1 & 2' and 'RRR', they are filled with such goosebump scenes.
Even a film like 'Karthikeya 2' went to another level just with one scene where Anupam Kher explains about Krishnatatwa to the hero. Mahesh Babu's 'Guntur Karam' got a mixed response but the 'Kurchini Madthapetti' song helped a lot in getting good collections. Even 'Salaar' had 2-3 high moments in the entire movie like the interval, Kateramma fight and the climax cliffhanger. Looks like this is what our writers and directors are trying to do lately.
