By: Tupaki Desk | 3 March 2025 1:22 PMGV Prakash Kumar, the music director and actor, is all set to enter the next league with his up-and-coming film, Kingston. Drawing parallels to iconic Indian films like Baahubali and Kantara, GV Prakash describes Kingston as a unique experience that will transport audiences into its distinct world.
The film, which marks his debut as a producer, is a sea-based fantasy adventure thriller set in a coastal village cursed with a dark mystery (about which the film's Trailer hinted at recently). Expect zombies and spirits to be central to some action scenes.
In a media interaction in Hyderabad today, GV Prakash shared insights into the making of Kingston. He revealed that the film is India’s first sea adventure thriller. He also hinted that elements of folklore, fantasy, and spine-chilling encounters with non-human enemies will be breathtaking. "The story revolves around a fisherman who dares to challenge the curse plaguing his village, leading to a series of unexpected and thrilling events," he said.
The technical challenges of filming Kingston were immense, with underwater sequences and action scenes on a ship posing taking a lion's share of the team's efforts. GV Prakash underwent "Rigorous training to hold his breath underwater for three minutes and perform action sequences in slippery conditions".
The film’s cinematography involved complex setups.
Kingston is set to release in Tamil and Telugu on March 7th. Maheswara Reddy of Ganga Entertainments is coming out with the film in the Telugu States.
