By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 2 Nov 2025 9:44 AM ISTA major controversy has shaken the Telugu film industry as HanuMan producer K. Niranjan Reddy of PrimeShow Entertainment filed a formal complaint against director Prasanth Varma with the Telugu Film Chamber. The issue has now become one of the most talked-about legal disputes in Tollywood.
According to the complaint, Prasanth Varma had agreed to make four films Adhira, Mahakali, Jai HanuMan and Brahma Rakshasa under the PrimeShow banner after the success of HanuMan. Producer Niranjan Reddy claimed that he had already paid ₹10.34 crore to Prasanth Varma as advance for these projects. However despite receiving the payment, the director allegedly failed to begin the work and instead announced the same films with other production houses.
Niranjan Reddy further mentioned that Prasanth Varma made him spend an additional crore Rupees to acquire the movie Octopus from another producer, promising to complete it after obtaining the NOC (No Objection Certificate). But even after receiving the money, Niranjan Reddy says the NOC was never given.
The producer accused director of shifting projects to other banners including RKD Studios, Mythri Movie Makers, and Hombale Films without his consent. He has demanded ₹200 crore in compensation for financial losses and loss of business opportunities, along with interest.
In his defense, Prasanth Varma denied all allegations, saying there were no formal agreements for those projects. He claimed that the ₹15.82 crore he received was his rightful share from HanuMan, not an advance payment. Prasanth Varma alleged that the producer was trying to divert attention from pending dues owed to him from the film’s ₹295 crore earnings.
