By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Nov 2025 11:47 AM ISTFor a long time, now, there have been several apprehensions about the financial markets in the Telugu film industry. Due to the declining footfalls at theatres, and growing production costs, several doubts are raised about the future of Telugu cinema.
This Friday saw an unusually heavy rush of releases, with more than ten films arriving on the same day. Yet, despite the numbers, almost none of them managed to generate a strong opening.
The only film showing some movement at the counters is Raju Weds Rambayi, helped mainly by its Hyderabad premiere strategy. Every other release is struggling to gather even basic first-day momentum.
Among them, 12E Railway Colony featuring Allari Naresh is facing severe challenges. Many theatres reported extremely low turnout, with some screens not even reaching a quarter occupancy.
Even though the film had promotional activity, the material felt repetitive and failed to create curiosity among audiences. For Naresh, this stands out as one of the weakest starts in recent memory, especially when compared to the relatively better response for his previous movie.
The romantic pairing of Priyadarshi and Anandhi needs stronger public acceptance to pull crowds, and even the active involvement of anchor Suma in the promotions has not translated into meaningful traction. Only unanimous word of mouth can rescue the film from sinking further.
Meanwhile, the re-release of the newly remastered Kodama Simham adds unexpected competition. For now, the box office is clearly signaling caution across the board.
