By: Shanaz B Syed | 21 Jan 2026 12:55 PM ISTIt looks like the Ticket Hikes in Telangana are going to be tougher and messier, with the High Court opining that authorities are violating court orders. The Telangana HC on Tuesday took suo motu action on the Special Chief Secretary (Home Department) of the state, for issuing a government memo allowing ticket hikes for Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu on Jan 10th.
The court expressed anger at the Telangana Govt for violating their orders in a similar matter earlier, where they had struck the memo issued to hike The Raja Saab ticket prices, but a similar memo was issued almost two days ago (Jan 8th) to Chiranjeevi’s film, and putting it in the public domain on 10th January. Acting on a petition filed by an advocate, the Court directed the petitioner to return after the Sankranthi vacation.
While asking the Telangana Special Secretary and Telangana Film Development Authority to respond to this, the Court also opined that film ticket hikes should be given 90 days before the movie’s release, such that it would allow even the audience to file for a review of the decision. The court advised the TG Government to look into Section 7A of the Cinemas Regulation Act, 1955, which clearly says that hikes should be announced 90 days prior, not a day before the release.
We have to see how the Telugu Film Industry will respond to these comments of the High Court, especially the makers and actors of Chiranjeevi’s film.
