It showcased how he became rich in no time and shed light on his downfall too. This series got international recognition. Now, Hansal turned into a producer and brought 'Scam 2003' under Tushar Hiranandani's direction. This new series showcases the life of Abdul Karim Telgi who shook the nation with the stamp paper scandal. The makers tried to showcase the situations during that period in a very realistic manner. This series started streaming recently and let us see how it turned out.
Abdul Karim Tegi is an unemployed graduate who sells fruits in the train to make a living. He is from Khanapur village in Karnataka. Seeing how he attracts customers, Shaukat Khan asks him to come to Mumbai. Telgi goes to Mumbai to make a living and how he ends up doing such a huge scam worth thousands of crores along with how he escaped from the government all these years forms the rest of the story. Tushar's story extended from 1982 to 2023.
Each episode has a runtime of 50 minutes and the director showcases how a common man cracks the system and ends up doing such a scam in a very detailed manner. Despite the lag here and there, the screenplay is quite interesting. However, the team managed to establish the plot in the first season and left a lot for the second season. The crimes of Telgi in the 2000s and how he gets caught and other plot points will be dealt with in the second season. Though it is not as gripping as 'Scam 1992', 'Scam 2003' manages to hold its own.
