Critics and big directors are loving it for its story and performances, but social media isn’t holding back on the bloodshed and political angles. Still, the film is killing it at the box office, crossing Rs 100 crore in its first week. Hrithik Roshan recently dropped his thoughts on Instagram Story, giving a mix of praise and perspective. “I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control… DHURANDHAR is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema,” he wrote.
He didn’t shy away from admitting he wasn’t on board with the film’s politics, though. “I may disagree with the politics… but I can’t ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing,” he added. Fans were quick to appreciate the way he separated the art from the ideology, calm, measured, but real.
Siddharth Anand, who directed War, also had some love for the film. He called it “nasha” and said, “It stays with you… Every department performing to their peak!… I’m going to go again.” He praised Aditya Dhar’s drive and the performances of the entire cast, keeping the excitement rolling.
