He’s been in full legal-warrior mode, taking action on anyone who uses his songs without proper permission. From big music labels to film producers, he’s been sending out notices left and right.
In the middle of all this, Mythri Movie Makers also got pulled into the mix. They used Ilayaraja’s songs in their films Dude and Good Bad Ugly, and that sparked a fresh dispute. Things got tense for a bit, with legal talks happening behind the scenes.
Now it looks like the issue has finally cooled down. Mythri Movie Makers has reportedly agreed to pay ₹50 lakh to settle the matter. With that payment, they’ve secured the official rights to use Ilayaraja’s music in both films.
There’s no formal statement from Mythri yet, but this settlement basically ends the back-and-forth. Ilayaraja gets his due, the producers get their rights, and everyone can move on without any more courtroom noise.
