Extraordinary League Of Rajamouli: Who’s Next?

In recent times, even the likes of Christopher Nolan have stated that Indian films have a better range and they could have already achieved Hollywood-like status if focused well. That’s partly true, because legendary Telugu filmmaker SS Rajamouli has already shown it with RRR, as that pre-independent era story moved even Hollywood makers like Steven Spielberg and James Cameron. Here comes the challenge from this filmmaker, however, to his Indian counterparts.

With Varanaasi, surely Rajamouli will go places again, and he might make another film that will even stun a Hollywood audience this time. But who would reach Rajamouli and walk down the path that’s laid by him is something to be seen. The likes of Nitish Tiwari with Ramayana and Atlee with Raaka are trying to do different fantasy films based on epics, mythology and history, such that they would match Rajamouli in terms of vision, scale and magnanimity. If these films click, surely the directors will be in that league of SSR only.

Then come the likes of Bollywood directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is making Love and War with Ranbir Kapoor, then Ayan Mukherjee with Brahmastra 2; and Raj Kumar Hirani with his next are trying to outshine Rajamouli for some time. Even from the South, we have the likes of Sukumar, Lokesh Kanagaraj trying to get into that league, but consistency is missing sometimes. If these directors focus and score, then surely they will be joining that extraordinary league of the legendary filmmaker Rajamouli.
