Mythri Got A Success, But Not Profits?

A film climbing to almost ₹80 crores gross in 4 days is no easy task, and coming from a string of flops, none expected that senior star Raviteja would deliver that. It happened with director Siva Nirvana’s Irumudi, and the film is doing exceptionally well at the box office. However, the film’s success isn’t going to relieve Mythri Movie Makers, or so they say.

In fact, trade talk is that the production house sold the movie “Irumudi” to buyers, and the production house will not be getting any excess from the distributors and exhibitors. Also, the film’s profits will go into the losses made by movies like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and others in recent times. For that reason, though Irumudi has minted money, that’s not going to Mythri’s coffers. Sometimes, a film turns out to be a success, but that might not work in favour of the producers due to unforeseen circumstances.

On the other hand, the success of Irumudi at the box office has given huge relief to all the sectors involved in filmmaking, including the likes of distributors and exhibitors. Ever since Peddi scored back in June, the box office has continued to showcase its dominance with any type of film that was hitting the marquee. We have to see which film will follow it up on.
