This film marks the collaboration of megastar Chiranjeevi and legendary actress Sridevi and it is one of the finest films ever to be made.
The producer of the film, Ashwini Dutt aggressively promoted the re release of the same. Digitally remastered the film by spending a lot of money on the enhancement works, but the film could not generate any sort of substantial revenues at the ticket counters.
The 4K re-release of the iconic 1990 Telugu fantasy film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, starring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, failed to make a significant impact at the box office. Despite its legendary status and the nostalgia it evokes among fans, the remastered version did not attract large audiences.
Producer Ashwini Dutt reportedly spent nearly ₹9 crore on the restoration and marketing of the film, although industry sources estimate the actual expenditure to be around ₹4–5 crore. The film, once a massive success during its original release, couldn’t replicate its past glory with the new generation.
Even with the advanced 4K presentation and enhanced visuals, the response was underwhelming, especially in theaters. The underperformance has sparked conversations in the industry about the risks involved in re-releasing classics. While the film remains a cultural milestone, its poor box office showing suggests that nostalgia alone may not be enough to guarantee success in today’s market.
