Telugu film industry is historically famous for producing some of the finest commercial films and recent times, and they have set a new benchmark for this particular genre. Now we are witnessing this getting replicated at multiple levels.

For instance, we have the case of the Murthy character in Jailer 2, which is turning out to be an extremely entertaining character, even on social media.

The kind of response that this character was able to generate in the theatres with people starting to laugh immediately after it arrival on screen and the subsequent following on social media has been beyond ordinary.

It is evident that this happens to be one of the iconic comedy characters, not just in Tamil cinema, but also across Indian Cinema in recent times.

But at the same time, there is another fundamental factor that must be kept in mind here as Tollywood had been writing and executing such characters since the last couple of decades itself.

We have the brilliant case of Director Srinu Vaitla, who is particularly famous for writing such characters in his films.

He had previously executed similar characters, featuring Brahmanandam in films like Dhee, Ready, Dookudu and others. This is the exact plot point where a character is designated to drive the story while he himself has very little idea of what is happening behind him.

This is the narrative and structure that was created by Srinu Vaitla, nearly a couple of decades ago and was very much loved by the Telugu audience as well. It is just that Telugu audience have grown accustomed to this particular style of characters and are no longer encouraging it.

But just when people started growing bored of such characters, Nelson was able to pack it with precision and add a strong background and narrative to it, which has clearly worked in the theatres.
