Jalsa Vs Murari: Who Is The Winner?

On the occasion of New Year, this year, we witnessed an interesting class between two historic films, Jalsa and Murari. Both the films were released by respective fans this New Year occasion and let us have a look at the theatrical returns of the same.

The New Year special shows of Telugu cult classics Murari and Jalsa witnessed impressive theatrical response, proving once again the power of nostalgia and star appeal. Both films were re released in 4K versions and screened during December 31 and January 1, attracting large crowds across key centers. Among the two, Jalsa clearly dominated in numbers. The Pawan Kalyan starrer opened with strong advance bookings and sustained momentum throughout the special shows.

By December 31, Jalsa sold around 34,000 tickets in tracked locations. With premium ticket pricing and high occupancy, the film generated an estimated ₹72 to ₹75 lakh gross from these special screenings alone. On the other hand, Murari, starring Mahesh Babu, had a comparatively slower start but showed steady growth as the New Year celebrations peaked.

The film appealed strongly to family audiences and fans on January 1. By the end of December 31, Murari sold approximately 20,000 tickets and collected close to ₹48 to ₹50 lakh from its special shows.In total, the combined collections of both films crossed nearly ₹1.2 crore, highlighting the strong box office potential of classic re releases. While Jalsa emerged as the clear leader in ticket sales and revenue, Murari also delivered a solid performance, reaffirming that well loved films can still pull audiences to theatres even years after their original release.
