Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan has been facing a lot of trouble for a really long time now. The release of the film got postponed due to the delay in the censor activities. And now let us have a look at the latest court order that has been issued in this regard.

In a major legal development, the Madras High Court Chief Justice’s Bench on January 27 set aside the single judge’s order that had directed the Central Board of Film Certification to grant a U/A certificate to Jana Nayagan.

The bench ruled that the single judge should have allowed the CBFC time to file a counter affidavit before passing the order. The case has now been remanded to the single judge for a fresh hearing, and the court clarified that the producer can amend the prayer in his writ petition.

While this clears procedural issues, it also introduces potential delays. Legal experts point out that the matter may now move back up to a Division Bench and possibly the Supreme Court, a process that could push the film’s release by several months.

The only immediate hope for the filmmakers is a Supreme Court appeal seeking to reinstate the single judge’s original order, which could allow the movie to release soon.

The delay comes after objections raised by the CBFC, which had referred the film to a revising committee before issuing a certificate. Fans are now anxiously watching for the next developments, while Vijay has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to integrity amid the ongoing censor dispute.

With this unfavourable ruling from the Madras High Court, it has to be seen when this Thalapathy Vijay film would actually be releasing in theatres.
