By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Feb 2026 7:06 PM ISTIt is already known that the makers of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan had approached the Madras High Court in connection with the case against CBFC for delaying the adequate censoring of their film.
And now, KVN Production LLP has taken a decisive step to resolve the certification hurdles surrounding its upcoming film Jana Nayagan.
The production house’s counsel on record, Vijayan Subramanian, has submitted a letter to the Madras High Court Registry conveying the producer’s intention to withdraw the writ petition filed against the Central Board of Film Certification.
The letter makes it clear that the producer has chosen to approach the CBFC’s Revising Committee to address the objections raised during the certification process and is therefore not interested in pursuing the litigation any further.
The writ petition is expected to be listed under the caption “For Withdrawal” before Justice P T Asha on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The legal issue had arisen after the CBFC raised concerns over certain aspects of the film, leading to delays in certification and, in turn, postponement of the film’s release. This uncertainty had stalled promotional plans and created tension around the project.
Jana Nayagan carries added significance as it has been announced as actor Vijay’s last film before his full fledged entry into active politics. The prolonged delay had caused widespread disappointment among fans, who were eagerly awaiting the film.
With the producer opting for the revising committee route, there is now fresh hope that the certification issues will be resolved soon, offering renewed optimism that the film’s release is finally back on track.
