By: Tupaki Desk | 5 April 2025 4:51 AMJr. NTR recently returned from Japan after promoting his film Devara: Part 1, which released there on March 28. According to Japanese media reports, the film earned around 11 million yen in two days, drawing nearly 6,200 viewers. While decent, the numbers are modest when compared to previous Indian hits in Japan like RRR, Muthu, and Baahubali 2.
Soon after his return, NTR attended the success meet of Mad Square, a comedy blockbuster starring his brother-in-law, Narne Nithin. During the event, NTR addressed growing speculation about a sequel to his 2010 comedy hit Adhurs. His straightforward response has now gone viral: "Comedy is very tough. That’s why I’m not doing Adhurs 2. I’m honestly scared whether I can pull off comedy like that again."
His comments, while honest, left many fans heartbroken. Adhurs is still loved for its comedy, especially NTR’s iconic Brahmin role, and fans have long hoped for a sequel under VV Vinayak’s direction. Even after 15 years, scenes from the film continue to trend on YouTube, proving its cult following. However, NTR’s latest remarks suggest that Adhurs 2 may not be on the cards—at least for now.
Despite this, NTR was full of praise for Narne Nithin and the Mad Square team. He shared a personal memory, recalling how Nithin once told him about his dream to become an actor. “He never asked me for support, and today he’s standing strong on his own,” NTR said proudly. The event also saw speeches from director Kalyan Shankar and other cast and crew, who credited the film’s success to a true team effort.
