You know how sometimes a dish takes five hours to cook, and by the time it’s finally ready, everyone’s forgotten they even ordered it? That’s exactly the story of Kaantha. The much-awaited film starring Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan has been simmering for years. Naturally, when something takes that long, gossip starts cooking on its own. The hottest rumour? That Bhagyashree Borse, who was supposed to play the female lead, got rejected from the project. Well, Rana finally had enough of the whispers, and boy, did he clear the air with style.

Rana said it plain and simple, no one rejected Bhagyashree. In fact, she was their first choice right from the start, almost six years ago. But when the movie kept getting postponed due to busy schedules, she assumed she’d been dropped. Can’t really blame her; it’s been years! She even went on to do other films, thinking Kaantha was shelved for good. Imagine signing your dream project and then having your entire career take off before that film even starts rolling, that’s how long this wait has been.

When Rana spoke about it, he didn’t sound irritated, just amused by how wild the rumours had gotten. He explained that it was purely a timing issue, with big names like him and Dulquer involved, syncing dates became a never-ending puzzle. The Kaantha team stayed loyal to Bhagyashree throughout; they just had to press pause until everyone was free. She was always our first choice, Rana said. Nothing changed except time.

So yeah, all that talk about rejection? Just nonsense. The truth is much simpler and a bit funny, the movie just took a ridiculously long pitstop. But now that Kaantha is back on track, fans are pumped to see the original combo finally hit the screens. Maybe, just maybe, that long wait will make the payoff even sweeter.
