Produced on a whopping ₹600 crores budget, the film amassed more than ₹1100 crores from the global box office, thus turning out to be a smashing hit.
Especially the way Nag Ashwin merged the futuristic Kaasi setup with a flashback from the Mahabharata has worked big time in the film’s favour. Amitabh Bachchan’s towering presence as Ashwatthama and Kamal Haasan as the villainous Kali, along with Prabhas as Karna and Bhairava, have mightily impressed. Guess what, the sequel to the film is all set to roll.
Though people have doubts if Prabhas will do the sequel or not, as films like Fauji and Spirit are in the pipeline, and he has already shown interest in doing Salaar’s sequel, whose story is also unfinished like Kalki. Reports are now doing rounds that Prabhas will join the sets of Kalki 2 from February this year, without fail.
While the pre-production work of the movie has been going on for a long time, finally, the makers of the movie, Ashwini Dutt’s Vyjayanthi Movies, are said to have locked dates for the production part. Only after wrapping this film for some time in February and March, Prabhas might go to the sets of his other movies, they say.
