He has done the same now, and he find himself in the middle of a heated language based controversy.
Kamal Haasan recently found himself in the middle of a controversy after making a comment about the origins of the Kannada language during the audio launch of his upcoming film Thug Life. At the event, Haasan remarked that “Kannada was born out of Tamil,” a statement that triggered strong reactions across Karnataka.
Pro-Kannada groups, political organizations, and netizens responded with outrage, calling the comment historically inaccurate and disrespectful. Some even demanded a ban on Thug Life in Karnataka.
The situation escalated to the point where Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah publicly condemned Haasan’s statement, emphasizing the independent roots of Kannada.
Interestingly, the heat wasn’t only on Kamal Haasan. Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar (popularly known as Shivanna), who was also present at the event, faced backlash for not addressing or countering Haasan’s statement immediately.
Critics argue that as a prominent representative of the Kannada film industry, his silence was disappointing. Out of nowhere, Shivarajkumar finds himself in the middle of this controversy as well.
As the debate continues online and offline, fans and cultural groups remain divided. Meanwhile, both Kamal Haasan and Shivanna are yet to release any official clarification regarding the incident.
