Kannappa is the long-awaited mythological film from the Manchu family. It was released in theaters two days ago. Made on a massive budget of over ₹200 crores, the film had high expectations. However it didn’t receive major business deals before its release. As a result, lead actor and producer Manchu Vishnu had to distribute the film on his own in several regions, choosing a commission basis instead of selling the rights. He also avoided signing an early OTT deal hoping the film’s success would increase its value later.

The movie drew attention for its grand visuals, mythological theme, and a strong cast that included top stars like Prabhas in important roles. On the first day, the film opened to packed theaters and reportedly collected around ₹20 crores. This was a positive sign for Vishnu and his team.

Even though the reviews from critics were mixed, the film continued to perform steadily on the second day. Box office numbers stayed almost the same, especially in Telugu-speaking states. In the Hindi market, Kannappa had a slow start on day one but showed a noticeable 40% jump in collections on the second day.

Trade analysts mentioned that South Indian films often grow slowly in the North, as seen with Baahubali and Pushpa. Kannappa seems to be following a similar path. However, in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the film’s performance was not as strong.

Despite these mixed regional responses, the movie is showing potential. If it maintains steady collections in Telugu and continues growing in Hindi, it could recover a major portion of its investment. The team is now looking forward to Sunday’s numbers, which are expected to be even better.
