What’s happening, Kantara 2 loses one more team member

The clouds over Kantara 2 are getting darker. After a sensational box office run with the first part, the prequel has been struggling to keep its journey smooth. From script controversies to tragic accidents, the project seems to be facing one hurdle after another. The latest shock is the sudden death of actor and comedian Rakesh Poojary, who had completed his portions in the film.

Rakesh, known for winning Comedy Kiladigalu Season 3, passed away after a heart attack during a wedding-related event in Nitte, near Udupi. Though he had no known health concerns and was active on the film sets, the 38-year-old collapsed at a mehendi function and couldn’t be revived at the hospital. His untimely death comes close on the heels of a tragic drowning incident, where a junior artist associated with the film lost his life while swimming in a river.

This is only one of the many problems that plague Kantara 2. Local communities criticized the movie earlier this year for its depiction of Daiva culture. The team had to defend the authenticity of their storytelling after receiving numerous legal letters and criticism on social media. There were also reports of some manufacturing delays, with weather and permit issues in forested regions affecting outdoor timetables.

The journey of the sequel is being watched with anxiety by fans who praised Kantara for its grounded storyline. Despite recent losses, the producers led by Rishab Shetty have said nothing. Even while anticipation is still very strong, the film's future is questionable due to growing emotional and practical challenges.
