Can Kantara Breakeven In Telugu States?

Venkat à la released in the Telugu state some three years ago, there was very little expected from this film as it was featuring an unknown Rishabh Shetty in the Leader rule. However, the film was a tremendous success at the Telugu states box office.

The stage is now set for the revival of this box office prospect with the sequel of this film, which happens to be the origin story, Kantara Chapter 1.

Coming to the box office opening of this film, it has reportedly collected in the vicinity of Rs 10 crore share in the Telugu states and its opening day. This is a reasonably good start for a Kannada film, which does not necessarily feature a superstar in the lead role.

However, considering the fact that this is a franchise film, the actual box office expectations on Kantara Chapter 1 are beyond ordinary. The film has reportedly been valued at ₹90 crore in the Telugu states alone.

This would essentially mean that the film will have to collect another ₹80 crore in the Telugu states if it is to achieve the breakeven status. This is going to be a pretty stiff challenge for this religious background film that has great technical brilliance.

Earlier it was KGF 2 from Kannada Cinema, which created madness at the Telugu states box office. Kantara will have to replicate something similar if it is to achieve the break event status at the domestic box office.
