Kantara Chapter 1 BO: Good Start, Very Good On BMS!

The Kantara franchise had its new film Chapter 1 arrive in theatres this week. The film released in theatres on October 2, and it has now started to generate pretty impressive revenues at the ticket counters.

Reportedly the film has collected in the range of rupees 80 crores gross worldwide. This is a very good number for a sequel film that does not have hero centric approach and relies largely on the story side of things.

Kantara had its primary contribution from the Kannada market, which was always expected to be the case, and the next biggest contribution came from Hindi as the film reportedly opened with ₹18 crores nett.

The contribution from the Telugu states have also been pretty positive as the film was reportedly able to collect in the range of ₹15 crore gross on the opening day. The Telugu and Hindi bookings alone contribute nearly 50% of the revenues of the film in India and tis speak for itself.

The major contribution is also from the overseas box office, as the film was able to reportedly collected the range of ₹20 crore here. Then, North American box office was very low encouraging of this film.

Reportedly the film was able to sell in the range of 1,28 million tickets on BookMyShow, on its opening day and this weekend is going to be a huge one for the film.

It is evident that this film is going to register a massive opening weekend at the global box office. It could very well be touching the 200 crore mark by the end of this weekend and could set the stage for a big weekend through the course of the full run.
