Released on October 2, Rishab Shetty’s action-drama has been quietly but steadily smashing numbers, and even almost a month later, it’s still beating fresh releases day after day. On October 23, early estimates showed how it comfortably stayed among the top earners, leaving newer films scrambling.
On that day, The Pet Detective led with ₹41.25 lakh, but Kantara wasn’t far behind at ₹30 lakh, beating bigger-sounding releases like Dude (₹18.75 lakh) and Paathirathri (₹13.10 lakh). Even Bison, Thamma, and Lokah couldn’t touch it. Out of more than 10 new films in theaters, Kantara quietly held its ground, proving word-of-mouth and fan love often beat big marketing budgets.
Looking at overall Kerala grosses, Kantara’s ₹52.95 crore in just 22 days is seriously impressive. Sure, Lokah sits on ₹121.60 crore in 57 days, but Kantara has already beaten films like Balti (₹9.18 crore) and The Pet Detective (₹6.50 crore) in a fraction of the time. Even the so-called blockbusters Dude and Paathirathri are trailing behind, showing the staying power of Shetty’s film. Strong story and charm make Kantara a box-office powerhouse in Kerala.
