Mega OTT Deal For Kantara: What’s Next?

Kannada cinema has been consistently producing some of the biggest blockbuster in Indian cinema in recent years and they are coming up with their next film, Kantara Part 1. This film has generated a lot of traction already, and it is now preparing for its release in October.

Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films, is already creating waves even before its release. The film, which serves as a prequel to the blockbuster Kantara, has completed its shoot and is now in the final stages of post-production with extensive VFX work.

Scheduled for release on October 2 coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, the movie has already set a record in terms of digital rights. According to industry buzz, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights for a massive ₹125 crore.

This deal stands out as one of the highest for a Kannada film after KGF: Chapter 2 and reflects the growing demand for Kannada cinema on global platforms.

The prequel is expected to dive deeper into the folklore and mysticism that made the original Kantara such a cultural phenomenon. With Rishab Shetty not just directing but also leading the project, expectations are sky-high.
