By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Jun 2025 1:42 PM ISTThe shoot for Kantara: Chapter 1, the follow-up to Rishab Shetty’s hit film, has come to a sudden stop. What was expected to be a smooth production has instead been filled with serious problems, some of them tragic. From the beginning, the team has faced continuous hurdles that have now brought everything to a pause.
Three people involved in the film have died in separate incidents. Junior artist Kapil drowned while swimming in the Sauparnika River. Comedian Rakesh Pujari, known for his role in Kiladigalu, died of a heart attack at a wedding. A month later, mimicry artist Niju VK passed away from a heart attack while resting at his stay. Most recently, a boat used during the shoot sank, adding to the growing list of setbacks.
The problems don’t end there. A crew bus overturned last year, injuring 20 junior artists. A massive set built at Kundapura was wrecked by a cyclone. Filming at a forest location triggered protests from villagers who claimed damage to the environment. Forest officers had to inspect the area. There are also reports that priests warned Rishab Shetty of negative forces during a recent temple visit.
The team is still aiming for a release on October 2, but nothing seems certain anymore. What began as a promising project is now surrounded by accidents, delays, and growing tension. Whether the film will bounce back or continue facing setbacks remains to be seen.
